Trainings with Customs
1. Customs Workshop at New Customs House (IGI), New Delhi by United Overseas Trademark Company in association with L’Oreal India Pvt. Ltd.
In a very intellectually interactive platform provided by Customs authorities at the IGI customs house New Delhi, the customs interactive workshop was conducted in great success by the United Overseas trademark Company, New Delhi, in partnership with L’Oreal India Pvt Ltd. The workshop was successful in bringing forth the identification aspects of counterfeit goods in the right manner and it was intercepted successfully by the participating audience.
2. First Regional (North India) Customs Workshop on 24.04.2012, to sensitize Custom Rules for IPR Enforcement in India.
The workshop was organized by United World in association with NACEN and there were participations from renowned multinational brands such as L’Oreal, LVMH, Lacoste, RayBan, Calvin Klein and WD-40. The workshop was successful in bringing forth the identification aspects of counterfeit goods in the right manner and it was intercepted successfully by the participating audience.
3. Second Regional (West Zone) Customs Training Workshop: Implementation of IPR (Imported Goods) Enforcement Rules, 2007 and, Product Identification Drive (October, 2012)
The workshop initiated by United World along with some of the prominent international brands vis a vis, L’OREAL, LACOSTE, LVMH, RAYBAN, CALVIN KLEIN, WD-40 and SKULL CANDY aptly brought the product identification of the aforementioned right-holders. It was a positive step by the industry to promote the identification techniques of its diverse range of products.
4. Customs Training Road-Show from 21st to 24th January 2013 at New Customs House, New Delhi, Inland Container Depot, Tughlakabad and Customs House, Chennai
The training was a combined initiative by United World, the European Communities Trade Marks Association (ECTA – to represent industry’s larger interest), along-with some of the prominent international brands vis-à-vis, COTY, L’OREAL, LACOSTE, RAYBAN, OAKLEY, CALVIN KLEIN, LVMH, CHRISTIAN DIOR, HUBLOT, TAG HEUER, ZENITH, POLO RALPH LAUREN & WD-40.
The Customs Training Road-Show was successfully organized and held on the following dates and venues:
1. At the New Customs House (Delhi Air Cargo), New Delhi on 21st January 2013 – This workshop was attended by more than 40 Custom officers and was presided by the Hon’ble Chief Commissioner of Customs, Ms. M. Michael.
2. At the Inland Container Depot, Tughlakabad (Land Freight Station), New Delhi, on 22nd January 2013 – This workshop was attended by more than 75 Custom officers and was presided by the Hon’ble Commissioner of Customs (Import) Shri M.S. Arora, the Additional Commissioner of Customs (Import) Shri R.K. Meena and the Additional Commissioner of Customs (Import) Shri Manish Goyal.
3. At the Customs House, (Sea Port) Chennai, on 24th January 2013 – This workshop was attended by around 100 Custom officers, including officers from the Sea Port as well as Chennai Air Cargo and was felicitated under the presence of Hon’ble Commissioner of Customs (Import), Shri C. Rajenderan, the Additional Commissioner of Customs (Import), Shri P. Jaideep, the Additional Commissioner of Customs Shri Suresh Kumar Babu, the Deputy Commissioner of Customs Mr. L. Stephens, the Deputy Commissioner of Customs (SIIB) Shri M. Murlikrishna and the Assistant Commissioner of Customs (Docks) Ms. Vamshadhara.
6. Sixth IPR Training Road-Show with Indian Customs on the 4th and 9th April 2014 at the ports of Ahmedabad and Nhava Sheva (Mumbai)
In furtherance to the anti-counterfeiting objectives and dedicated protection of the Intellectual Property Rights, United World in association with the European Community of Trademark Association (ECTA) made a breakthrough by organizing a series of customs training road-shows across different Customs Ports in India.
The training events were held at the ports of Ahmedabad and Nhava Sheva (Mumbai) on the 4th and 9th of April, 2014 respectively. Training at the Port of Ahmedabad was headed by the Commissioner of Customs, Captain Sanjay Gehlot; while at the Port of Nhava Sheva, it was headed by the Additional Commissioner of Customs, Mr. Rajiv Kapoor. The workshops received participation from a consortium of popular brands like L’Oreal, Lacoste, Calvin Klein, LVMH, Christian Dior, Polo Ralph Lauren, RayBan, Superdry, Crocs, Louis Philippe, Skullcandy and Tommy Hilfiger.
7. IPR Training with Cambodian Customs in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (February, 2016)
United World and ACACAP (Asian Coalition Against Anti Counterfeiting And Piracy), in cooperation with the World Customs Oranization, concluded an interactive IPR Training with the Cambodian Customs on 5th February 2016 at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The training witnessed participation from a wide consortium of right-holders.
The training was intended to familiarize the Cambodian Customs with the Intellectual Property Rights Regime for prevention of import and export of counterfeit goods and it was attended by 40 officials from the General Department of Customs Enforcement, Cambodia, presided over by Mr. Nuon Chanrith, the Deputy Director General.
8. Anti-Counterfeiting Mission – IPR Customs Training – Mumbai Customs – March, 2016
United World and ACACAP (Asian Coalition Against Anti-Counterfeiting And Piracy) with a common goal to sensitize the Indian Customs on IPR protection and enforcement at the territorial borders, concluded a successful Training at the Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai on 7th March, 2016.
A large consortium of globally well-known brands participated in the training, namely L’Oreal, Dior, Guerlain, Givenchy, Kenzo, Make Up For Ever, Lacoste, Levi’s, Crocs, Oakley, Fendi, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Ray-Ban, Victoria’s Secret, La Senza, Bath & Body Works, Pink, Henri Bendel, ghd (Good Hair Day), Monster Energy, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sony and Superdry.
The training was attended by 40 officials from Mumbai Customs, which included the Senior Officers (Commissioners) as well as the Appraisers, Examiners and Inspectors. The officials displayed immense curiosity in learning about the product identification features of the participating brands and shared encouraging written feedback
9. PR Training with Customs Officials at the National Academy of Customs, Excise & Narcotics (NACEN), Faridabad on 18th May, 2016
United World in cooperation with Asian Coalition against Counterfeiting and Piracy (ACACAP) participated in the Intellectual Property Rights Workshop organised by World Customs Organization (WCO) at the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN), Faridabad, India on 18th May, 2016.
The workshop witnessed participation from 33 Senior Customs Officials from India as well as other countries from Asia Pacific Region. The workshop also experienced value addition by a guild of internationally renowned rights holders.
The workshop aimed at increasing awareness about counterfeit and pirated products through interactive presentations detailing the diverse techniques of IPR enforcement employed by customs officials across all the participating countries.
10. IPR Trainings with Indian Customs on 27th and 28th July 2016 in Kolkata, West Bengal
United World in cooperation with the World Customs Organization(WCO) and BASCAP (Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy) conducted trainings in the heart of East India under the Kolkata Customs Commissionerate on the 27th and 28th of July 2016, which saw engagement by a consortium of globally well known brands.
The training on 27th July, 2016 for Customs Officers at the Port was approved by Dr. N. K. Soren, Commissioner of Customs (Port, Kolkata) and headed by Mr. Shivaji Dange, Additional Commissioner of Customs. While the training on 28th July 2016 was headed by Mr. Dinesh Bhoyar, Joint Commissioner of Customs and Mr. Umesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Customs (Airport & Admin). Both the trainings were attended by a large number of Custom officers with vigour and intent to understand the functioning of the IPR system and of the product identification techniques of the participating brands, as is reflected in the written feedback.
